What is a Sister Studio?

What does it mean to be a Sister Studio to FCBD®?

In order to become a Sister Studio to FatChanceBellyDance®, one must graduate from three intensive workshops: ATS® General Skills Classic (10 hours), ATS® General Skills Modern (10 hours), and ATS® Teacher Training (10 hours). FCBD® Sister Studios are dedicated to presenting ATS® as created and developed by FatChanceBellyDance® director and master teacher Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman, and they do not blend ATS® with other styles of dance. Their goal is for students to be able to attend a FCBD® Sister Studio ATS® class anywhere in the world and receive quality instruction that is consistent with the way that ATS® is taught at FCBD®. Melissa completed all three certification courses in October of 2014 with Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman and Megha Gavin in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) and has been a Sister Studio to FatChanceBellyDance® since that time.

Melissa also participates in FCBD®’s optional Sister Studio Continuing Education Program, which helps her to continue to grow as a dancer and teacher and demonstrates her commitment to ongoing training. She re-certifies annually as a Sister Studio after completing a minimum of 10 hours of American Tribal Style® instruction, including at least one hour of 1:1 instruction with Carolena or Megha and at least 9 hours of instruction at SSCE workshops or with SSCE instructors. Melissa’s most recent re-certification date was
