Class Terms & Policies

Payment for class sessions is required prior to or on the first day of class, although payment  prior to class is preferred because your space is not held until payment is received.

Normally, payment is made in full, but payment plans can be arranged. Please contact Melissa to request this.

Melissa accepts cash, personal checks, and PayPal. Personal checks are subject to a $35 NSF fee due within 7 business days of the original deposit date. PayPal transactions require an additional nominal fee. Current PayPal fee rates as of 10 August 2015:

  • 2.9% + $0.30 (online PayPal transactions)

Attendance and Refunds

If you are unable to dance but still able to attend class, you may actively observe and/or take notes. Please inform Melissa of your desire to do so before class begins.

If you are unable to attend a class that you have already paid for, speak with Melissa within 24 hours of missing the class. Depending on the circumstances and the availability of classes, you may be able to take a make-up class within the same session at your same level or lower with Melissa.

If you need to withdraw from a  class or session for which you are registered due to medical or other extenuating circumstances or you decide after the first class not to complete the session, notify Melissa as soon as possible.  Refunds are only available if the student notifies Melissa BEFORE the second class of the session. After this timeframe, you may be able to transfer your registration to a later session or to another student. Refunds are not available for classes you do not attend. No exceptions.

When canceling a private lesson, a 24 hour advance notice is required in order for the student to receive a refund.

In the event of extreme weather, instructor injury, or other circumstances beyond her control, it may be necessary to cancel a night of class. Melissa reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes/sessions at her discretion. She will notify you as soon as possible of such news.

Announcements regarding cancellations and rescheduled classes will be posted on Honey of the Hive’s Facebook page as well as on the class event page on Facebook.  Please feel free to call Melissa on her cell phone at 269.830.8595 with questions.

Melissa may choose to handle rescheduled classes by adding time onto already scheduled classes or holding a make up class or video make up class at a later date.

If it is not possible to make up a class or the session is cancelled before the second class of the session, you will receive a full refund of your tuition for that class or session (minus any applicable PayPal fees)  as well as information on any other classes that you may be able to join.

As a general rule of thumb, If any of the following area public schools are closed due to inclement weather, dance class is cancelled for that day:

  • Climax-Scotts
  • Galesburg
  • Kalamazoo
  • Parchment
  • Portage
  • Vicksburg

It is recommended that you receive a doctor’s examination prior to participating in this or any other physical activity.

We want you to enjoy a safe, fun, and healthy class experience, so we require that new students fill out a liability waiver, which includes questions about health concerns and other matters that are important for Melissa to know about as your dance instructor. Melissa treats your information, both verbal and written, with the utmost confidence.

When it all boils down to it, you are responsible for yourself. Neither Melissa, Honey of the Hive, nor the dance studio are liable for injuries, damages, claims, costs, and liabilities arising from and/or pertaining to your participation in Melissa’s classes.
